Hayfever Treatment with Chinese Medicine"
The successful treatment of hayfever with acupuncture or Chinese herbal medicine has been proven time and time again with a large number of studies demonstrating clinically significant outcomes. We find the same results with patients in our clinic, that with a tailored acupuncture treatment instant drug free relief can be achieved. Repeat treatments are often necessary to prolong the relief, and at times Chinese herbal medicines, dietary changes will be prescribed and saline nasal washes or sprays recommended to reduce the need for more frequent visits. Results range from significant relief of symptoms to complete remission, with relief from the first acupuncture treatment. A typical treatment timeframe would be 4-6 treatments over the period of 2 months in order for a patient to reach their maximum relief. Ongoing treatment can help to improve the underlying disharmony that leads to hayfever, and reduce the recurrence of symptoms.
Once relief is achieved (usually within the first 1 or 2 sessions), appointments are timed according to the increased duration of wellness, with a focus on improving the function of the immune system and to prevent recurrence. Often we recommend preventative treatment in the winter of the following year to ensure that the relief is sustained from season to season.
For those who are shy when it comes to needles, we have a range of treatment options that are painless - including laser acupuncture. As with the majority of treatments provided at our clinic, hayfever treatments are also suitable for children.
Sinus Infections
It is not uncommon for hayfever to migrate into a full blown sinus infection - due to the inflammation, blockage and general immune system upset. We have a range of Chinese herbal medicines in either capsule, granule or raw herb format that can address the sinus infection and in most cases patients can avoid the need for antibiotics, or can assist with the quick resolution of infection. Acupuncture provides relief from the pain of a sinus infection, and can promote the unblocking of infected sinuses.
