|
Qualifications BA(SocSci), GradDipAppPsych(Monash), DipClinHyp Jo Fleischer is an experienced registered psychologist, flower essence therapist (Bach Flower Remedies and Australian Bush Flower Essences) and clinical hypnotherapist. When making a booking please specify which type of treatment you would like, alternatively Jo can see you for a general consultation and can help you choose the most effective way forward. Jo's Approach and Treatment Philosophy Jo's approach is friendly, holistic, and non-judgemental, aiming to work with you to achieve overall, and particularly psychological, well-being. She will not make decisions for you or lecture you but provides information, education and will work with you to explore your options and help work on your areas of concern. She has additional training in Mind Body Counselling and believes you can't separate the mind from the body. Referred services under Medicare require that Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is used. This is an 'umbrella' term which combines cognitive (or looking at thoughts and thought processes) with behaviour (looking at what you do). Research has shown that these therapies can be at least as effective as drug treatment. Areas of Special Interest She uses an eclectic collection of tools to help people deal with a range of issues including addiction (particularly smoking, drugs and alcohol), pain and weight management, sleep, anxiety and phobias as well as some more unusual issues. Jo has used hypnotherapy and flower essence therapy extensively in her practice for the past few years. She is a lecturer and trainer in flower essences, training other practitioners as well as people who just want to use them for themselves or with friends and family. Jo delivers training each year on behalf of Ian White, the founder of the Australian Bush Flower Essences. She has worked with a wide range of people with a broad variety of issues including (but not limited to) depression, anxiety and panic attacks, confidence, relationships, sex, self esteem, sleep and weight management issues. Accreditation Jo is registered with Medicare and numerous private healthcare funds for psychological services (flower essence therapy is not covered). A Medicare rebate may be available depending upon whether you meet criteria that would be determined by your GP and if they provide you with a referral prior to your appointment. Jo is a full member of both the Australian Psychological Society and the Australian Society of Hypnosis.
