What To Expect In Your Acupuncture Treatment

Full Health History

During your first acupuncture consultation, your practitioner will take a complete health history. As well as collecting information about your health concerns, other information about your general health and wellbeing will help to paint a complete picture of how your body is functioning. Sleep, energy levels, digestion, headaches and sweating are all common questions that are asked by your practitioner to help determine the correct Acupuncture diagnosis and treatment protocol to use.

Duration

Your first acupuncture consultation will last for approximately 90 minutes, this allows time for a comprehensive health history, Chinese Medicine diagnosis and treatment protocol to be established and for your first acupuncture treatment to be performed. Subsequent treatments will be approximately 60 minutes in duration.

Pain-Free Acupuncture

Our practitioners take great care to ensure the utmost comfort and a pain-free acupuncture experience - using the most gentle acupuncture techniques. You can inform us prior to your first session if you are anxious about having acupuncture and we can then tailor your treatment to accommodate this. In fact many clients report after having their first acupuncture treatment that they are surprised at how comfortable the process was.

Safety Measures

Single-use disposable needles are the only type of needles used in our clinic.

Relaxation

Once inserted, acupuncture needles are left in-situ for between 10-40 minutes depending on the treatment protocol. During this time you can relax, close your eyes, meditate or sleep as the acupuncture takes effect.
